Police in Mombasa County have arrested two persons of interest and recovered a variety of suspected stolen household goods and electronics following a targeted security operation in Kisauni Sub-County.

The National Police Service (NPS), in a statement shared via X on Monday, April 20, 2026, said officers from Mjambere Police Station conducted the operation in Barsheba, Kagujo, and surrounding areas after intelligence-led information linked the persons of interest to a series of reported burglaries.

Targeted operation in Kisauni

According to the police, the coordinated crackdown was aimed at dismantling a group suspected of carrying out multiple theft and burglary incidents within the Kisauni and Kadzandani areas.

The two persons of interest, whose identities have not yet been publicly disclosed, were arrested during the operation and taken into custody for processing.

Authorities say they are believed to be part of a wider network responsible for a string of break-ins targeting residential homes.

“Officers from Mjambere Police Station in Kisauni Sub-County apprehended two suspected notorious criminals and recovered a significant cache of stolen household goods and electronics following a targeted operation in Barsheba, Kagujo, and their environs,” the NPS stated.

“The duo is believed to be part of a criminal ring responsible for a string of robberies and burglaries within the Kisauni and Kadzandani areas.”

Stolen goods recovered

During the operation, officers recovered a significant cache of household items and electronic devices, believed to have been stolen from various victims.

One of the recovered items was positively identified by a 21-year-old student from the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), who had earlier reported a burglary incident.

Police say the recovery of the items is a key breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb rising cases of theft in the area.

The two individuals are currently being held at Mjambere Police Station and have been processed ahead of their planned court appearance.

They are expected to be arraigned on Monday, April 20, 2026, where they will face charges related to burglary and handling stolen property.

“The recovered items have been positively identified by a victim, a 21-year-old student at the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), who had reported the theft earlier. The suspects were placed in custody at Mjambere Police Station. They have been processed and are scheduled to be arraigned in court today, Monday, 20 April 2026, to face relevant charges,” the statement reads.

The NPS has commended members of the public for providing timely information that led to the arrests.

Security officials emphasised that community cooperation continues to play a crucial role in tackling crime, particularly in urban residential areas.

Police also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security in Kisauni Sub-County and across Mombasa County, stating that operations against criminal networks will continue.

The arrest comes amid increased police efforts to address property-related crimes in coastal urban centres, where cases of burglary and theft have been reported intermittently.
