East African Legislative Assembly Member of Parliament Winnie Odinga has eventually made a show at the National Delegates Convention of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) amid her anticipation.

The ODM party held its much-anticipated National Delegates Convention at Jamhuri Stadium, bringing together delegates from across the country to deliberate on the party’s leadership and future direction. The convention comes at a time when the party is grappling with internal divisions that have spilt into the public domain.

In her speech at the convention at Jamhuri Park on Friday, March 27, 2026, Winnie Odinga, a key figure within the party and a member of the influential Odinga political family, has recognised ODM as her home.

Nilisema juzi ODM is my home, and this is where I am,” Winnie said.

At the same time, a parallel meeting organised by the Linda Mwananchi faction was taking place at Ufungamano House. The faction, which has positioned itself in opposition to the main ODM leadership, is led by prominent figures including Edwin Sifuna, James Orengo, Godfrey Osotsi, and Babu Owino.

Despite the significance of the rival meeting, Winnie Odinga did not attend the Ufungamano House event, further highlighting her apparent decision to remain aligned, albeit cautiously, with the official party gathering at Jamhuri Stadium.

The dual gatherings underscore the widening cracks within ODM, with each faction seeking to assert legitimacy and influence over the party’s direction. While the Jamhuri Park convention proceeded with official party backing, the Linda Mwananchi group has insisted that its meeting represents the true voice of the party’s grassroots supporters.

Winnie’s late arrival and absence from the rival forum leave lingering questions about her role in the unfolding political developments and whether she is positioning herself strategically as the party navigates one of its most significant internal challenges.
