Suba South Member of Parliament (MP) Caroli Omondi has announced that the Linda Mwananchi movement will hold a major political rally in Machakos County on Sunday, May 31, 2026, signalling renewed political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a post shared on his official X account on Friday, May 29, 2026, Caroli hinted at the movement’s political return with a brief but attention-grabbing message.

“We are back! Tupatane Machakos Juma Pili tarehe 31/05/2026,” Caroli posted.

The announcement has already sparked political speculation online, with supporters interpreting the message as a sign of intensified grassroots mobilisation by the Linda Mwananchi movement amid shifting political alignments across the country.

The planned Machakos gathering is expected to attract supporters and leaders allied to the movement as political activities continue gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 polls.

Linda Mwananchi’s slogan resurfaces amid ODM shift

Caroli’s announcement comes just days after Gladys Wanga revealed that the Orange Democratic Movement had officially abandoned the ‘Linda Ground’ slogan following claims that rival groups had adopted and distorted the branding.

Speaking during an ODM aspirants’ consultative meeting in Kisumu on May 25, 2026, Wanga said ODM members should now strictly identify with the party’s official branding and colours.

“We had created the Linda Ground movement to consolidate our support base, but some people came and tried to imitate it with different versions. We have now left that behind. We are ODM and the colour is orange,” Wanga stated.

She further maintained that ODM remained united under the leadership of Oburu Oginga despite the ongoing political transition within the party.

Political mobilisation intensifies ahead of 2027

The resurgence of movements and regional rallies reflects the growing political activity being witnessed across the country as leaders position themselves ahead of the next general election.

Analysts say grassroots mobilisation meetings are increasingly becoming important platforms for building political influence, consolidating support bases and shaping future alliances.

Machakos County has recently emerged as one of the regions attracting heightened political attention, particularly within the wider Ukambani political landscape.

Although details regarding the agenda and leaders expected at the Linda Mwananchi rally remain limited, the event is likely to fuel further political debate and speculation about emerging alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.
