Presidential hopeful and businessman Jimmy Wanjigi has officially joined Paul Muite’s Safina Party.

Speaking after being given the party’s life membership certificate, Wanjigi said he chose to join Safina because of its ideologies.

“Those who were thinking Safina is dead, let me assure them that with Muite’s wisdom we shall sail through the third liberation as they’ll actualize it,” Wanjigi said.

Wanjigi, who ditched ODM after being chased from the Party’s NDC, said he has forgiven ODM Secretary Edwin Sifuna for what he did to him.

He has welcomed people to join the party ahead of the NDC on March 21, 2022, where he will be unveiled as the flagbearer. So far, Wanjigi is the only person who has shown interest to vie for the presidency under the Safina Party ticket.

On his part, Safina Party leader Paul Muite said this time around they are confident of winning the August General Elections and will stand as a party till the end.

He added that in 2013 he only vied to set a record that anyone who is not from a famous family can also vie for the seat.

“We will stand on our own and no one will force us into pre-election coalitions. I vied for the presidency in 2013 to encourage your children and my children that you don’t have to come from any particular family to contest,” Muite said.

Muite said they have made the right decision to welcome Wanjigi to the party.

“We have made the right decision by welcoming Jimi Wanjigi to the party,” Muite said.
