The Orange Democratic Movement national chairperson, Gladys Wanga, has announced that the party’s founding members will be convening at the party’s 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa on Friday, October 10, 2025.

Speaking in Mombasa on Friday, October 10, 2025, Wanga revealed that the preparations were in top gear for the event, with invitations extended to all and sundry.

“We are calling our members within the party to begin to prepare. Our party has members from across the country and we ask them to begin to prepare to come.

“This event will also bring together the founding members of this party. We are pleased that it will be a reunion of those who started this party. All founders will be invited, and those who accept the invite will be here,” she stated

She also stated that the party will also re-live the memories of its slain young supporters who died in the quest for a just country and good governance.

Her comments come days after President William Ruto referred to himself as a founding member of the Orange Party.

Ruto to Sifuna

In a veiled dig at Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna at the funeral of George Oduor – Raila Odinga’s longtime bodyguard – in Siaya County on Saturday, April 12, 2025, Ruto warned Sifuna to measure his words when commenting about the affairs of the party he helped establish.

“I’ve heard Sifuna speaking forcefully. When you’re talking about my issues, Sifuna, you should know that I am a founding member of ODM, so take it a bit easy. We are the ones who started this thing. And you know, if you push me too far, I will call a meeting of the founding fathers of ODM. We, who founded the party, can discipline you.”

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if Ruto will make a show with Wanga’s remarks coming amid a growing political camaraderie between the broad-based partners in recent months.

Following the ratification of the collaborative pact between Kenya Kwanza and the Orange party inked on March 7, 2025, the partnership between the principals has grown in leaps and bounds, recently culminating in a joint parliamentary group meeting.

The high-level meeting in Nairobi on Monday, August 18, 29025, was chaired by Ruto and Raila Odinga.

Modalities for strengthening the partnership towards uniting the country were among the items canvassed.

The meeting was preceded by Ruto’s visit to Migori County, where he had announced that UDA would work closely with ODM.

“We (ODM and Kenya Kwanza) agreed to work together to create a country that works for every Kenyan and to design policies that grow our national income,” he said.
