Wanga goes after her rivals after Boyd Were’s victory in Kasipul mini-polls
Homa Bay Govenor Gladys Wanga has hit out at her critics and rivals after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate in the Kasipul by-election, Boyd Were, emerged victorius in the Thursday, November 28, 2025 polls.
In a heartfelt statement during a rally in Mumbo on Friday, November 28, 2025, the governor thanked the entire ODM fraternity for working around the clock to secure the win.
Wanga went out to dismiss individuals whom she accused of ganging up against her during the campaigns, which saw a section of her party officials defy party lines to support rival candidate Philip Aroko.
Ganged up
“The other day, we were doing campaigns for Boyd, but other people turned it around as a campaign to dethrone me. Men ganged up against me. They did not know it was all because of God that I rose to this position. They thought they were out to finish me, but they were fighting themselves,” she stated.
Wanga proceeded to thank the voters for electing Boyd, stating that the voters had spared her embarrassment and shame.
“You took the shame away from and put it on the heads of some big men out there,” she told a charged crowd.

The governor also spoke on the violent scenes that marred the entirety of the campaign in the volatile Kasipul region.
In a conciliatory tone, Wanga advises the youthful MP-elect to reach out to all the people and serve them equally as he assumes his new role as the new MP in the days to come.
“These are now all your people, including those who did not vote for you. You have to meet them at the points of need. Those with funerals and in need of help to educate their children, come to their aid and help them,” she implored.
“We have those who voted for me and those who did not vote for you, but you have to work for them all,”
