The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has moved to contain fallout from its grassroots and by-election nomination exercises by activating its internal dispute resolution mechanism, following a hotly contested and controversial nomination in Emurua Dikirr Constituency.

In a notice on Friday, March 27, 2026, the party’s Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee (ENDRC) announced it would receive, hear and determine all disputes relating to the party’s grassroots elections and ongoing nominations.

The notice comes in the wake of Friday’s UDA primaries in Emurua Dikirr, which were marred by claims of bribery, repeat voting, and proxy voting across several polling stations.

David Kipsang Keter emerged winner of the UDA parliamentary ticket after garnering 13,759 votes, narrowly defeating Bernard Kipkoech Ng’eno, who secured 13,394 votes in a tightly fought race.

The results were declared at 8:45 pm on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Emurua Dikirr Secondary School hall by UDA National Election Board Vice Chairperson Veronica Chebet.

“The voting process has been smooth, free of any ugly incidences. The tallying is complete, and the winner has emerged as Keter as per the wishes of the voters,” Chebet said, despite widespread complaints raised by some candidates and their supporters.

The ENDRC, chaired by Adrian Kamotho, emphasised that all aggrieved parties must file complaints within strict timelines.

“All electoral disputes should be lodged before the ENDRC within twenty-four (24) hours, upon declaration of results or nomination decision giving rise to respective dispute,” the memo states.

The committee further clarified that disputes may be submitted electronically.

“Disputes may be lodged electronically via the following E-Mail address: [email protected].”

This provision is expected to fast-track the resolution process amid mounting tensions in several constituencies.

In a separate but related notice, the ENDRC also confirmed its readiness to handle disputes arising from upcoming by-elections, including the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat, as well as ward-level contests in Samburu and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.

The committee reiterated its mandate to ensure fairness and transparency in party processes.

“Notice is hereby given that the UDA Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee (ENDRC) shall be available to receive, hear and determine all disputes relating to the nominations,” the statement reads.

The developments highlight the high political stakes in Emurua Dikirr, a constituency widely regarded as a political battleground.

Keter, a three-time challenger of former MP Johana Ng’eno, now positions himself as the UDA flagbearer in what is expected to be a fiercely contested by-election.

However, the accusations surrounding the nomination exercise threaten to cast a shadow over his victory, with rivals expected to seek redress through the party’s dispute resolution channels.

As the 24-hour window for filing petitions ticks away, attention now shifts to the ENDRC and its ability to arbitrate disputes impartially and restore confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.
