Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has questioned Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju’s disappearance moments after he resurfaced, explaining why the private sector is fleeing Kenya.

On his official X account on Monday, March 23, 2026, Sifuna linked Tuju’s disappearance to a method for resolving private commercial disputes, demanding more attention to the events that led to his disappearance.

“We must all be gravely concerned about this Tuju situation. You may say it’s a private matter, but what you need to understand is that it’s a continuation of the “mambo ni matatu” way of solving private commercial disputes,” Sifuna said.

On his part, the ODM leader further linked Tuju’s disappearance to a Chinese businessman who was deported, explaining that the current regime deploys dark arts to force outcomes in commercial disputes.

“See it in the context of Rai, and the deported Chinese businessmen over a 30B shilling tender. We have a rogue regime that deploys dark arts to force outcomes in commercial disputes,” Sifuna explained.

“No investor would put their money into such a country. It’s why the private sector is fleeing Kenya, it’s why our young people have no jobs. It’s why we keep insisting on the values of our constitution. It’s why we sing Rule of Law. It’s not about shiny things people. The state, whose job it is to protect citizens must now produce Tuju!,” Sifuna stated.

Tuju’s dissaperance

The family of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju reported his mysterious disappearance after efforts to track his location proved futile on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in the afternoon.

His family said on Sunday, March 22, 2026, that Tuju was scheduled to appear for an interview with a local radio station on Saturday night but never returned home, and his phone has been off since.

On Sunday morning, however, Tuju’s son, Mano Tuju, received a call from the Karen Police Station OCS seeking confirmation on the identification of an abandoned vehicle on Miotoni Lane in Karen, verifying that it belongs to his father.

Tuju resurfaces

Following a long weekend search, Raphael Tuju resurfaced and opened up about the deep emotional trauma that was caused in his family following his disappearance.

Tuju, who resurfaced on Monday, March 23, 2026, said he considers himself blessed to be alive under the circumstances, prompting the detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to launch the probe into the matter.

“My family is traumatised, and I consider myself lucky because there are many Kenyans with unmarked graves,” he narrated.
