DCI launches probe after Raphael Tuju goes missing
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched investigations into the reported disappearance of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju.
This follows a missing person report filed at Karen Police Station on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
In a statement on March 22, 2026, the DCI confirmed that Tuju was reported missing by his family on Sunday. His motor vehicle was later found abandoned along Miotoni Lane in Karen with its hazard lights on, prompting a response from officers at Karen Police Station after a security guard alerted authorities.
“The scene was later processed by Crime Scene Investigators and the vehicle towed to Karen Police Station for further forensic examination,” the statement said.
Efforts to reach Tuju have so far been unsuccessful, with investigators noting that his mobile phone remains switched off. A specialized team has since been deployed to handle the case, working in coordination with other government agencies to establish his whereabouts.
“The investigating team is also utilizing all available resources and investigative techniques to determine the circumstances surrounding his reported disappearance,” the DCI said.
However, investigators noted a setback after attempts to access Tuju’s residence along Mwitu Drive were denied by family members. Authorities have called for full cooperation from all parties to facilitate a swift and thorough investigation.
“We urge full cooperation from all parties, including unrestricted access to relevant locations and prompt provision of information, for a swift and thorough resolution,” the agency said.
The DCI has also appealed to members of the public to provide any information that may assist in locating Tuju, particularly those who may have seen him, his vehicle, or any suspicious activity in the Miotoni Lane or greater Karen area before, on, or after March 21, 2026.
“The investigation remains ongoing and further updates will be provided as significant developments arise,” the statement added.
