Senator Tabitha Mutinda enters race for Nairobi Woman Rep seat
Nominated senator Tabitha Mutinda has declared her bid to contest the Nairobi woman representative position ahead of the 2027 elections.
The UDA-allied politician made the remarks on Friday, January 23, 2026, while speaking at a public function.
She expressed her readiness to serve the city residents in a role that will see her switch from county oversight to legislation and spearhead special interests among women and children.
“My Nairobi people, you said you want me to represent you as the Nairobi Woman Representative, and I am ready. I want to continue walking the journey with you and bring more women to the leadership positions,” she stated.
Mutinda, who has been engaging in numerous development and empowerment activities within the city, stated that she is committed to taking up the role.
She listed a number of her developmental projects; she aims to continue her journey to realise her dream to transform the city and uplift lives.
Mutinda revisited the recent overtures from the government to the Wiper Party to join hands with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of the 2027 polls.

Mutinda also used the occasion to extend an invitation to rival political parties to join hands with the ruling coalition, asserting that President William Ruto’s regime remains committed to uniting all Kenyans.
“We welcome other political parties to join UDA and bring forces together and offer the much-needed political leadership. The UDA welcomes all, including the Wiper Patriotic Front. We don’t have a problem with them. We want to work together as bigger people,” she posited.

The affirmative action seat is set to get a new occupant, as the incumbent, Esther Passaris, expressed her intention to call time on the role after serving for a couple of terms.
The ODM MP, while speaking of her decision to call time on her tenure, refuted assertions that she had endorsed her preferred successor.
“Over the last 24 hours, I’ve seen several edited posters circulating online. Let me set the record straight. By 2027, God willing, I will have completed two full terms as Nairobi Woman Rep. This is an affirmative action seat, and I believe it is time for another woman to lead,” Passaris stated on Friday, November 21, 2025.
“To be clear: I have not endorsed anyone for the seat. It is far too early for that, and I will not be drawn into political games, misinterpretations, or manipulated graphics,” she declared.
