Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has urged Kenyans and leaders to embrace peaceful politics that are not divisive on tribal lines.

Salasya has said that tribal politics has long been overtaken by time.

Taking to his social media on Monday, February 2, 2026, Salasya has called on Kenyans to embrace ideological politics and shun away from politics of ethnic division.

He has warned politicians who thrive in ethnic politics that they have no place in modern-day Kenya.

“Under my watch as the chief peace ambassador, the politics of Kenya will change forever. We shall not be divided in the name of the leaders of community kingpins. Kenya has now moved from the politics of KAMUTUSA, GEMA, Mulembe Nation, Luo Nation, and Cousins. We are now one Kenya under one big nation called Kenya. The ideological politics is the way to and not based on tribe. The politics of tribal cards is now a past story because this is where politicians thrive. Am determined to unite all Kenyans and speak one language of change for a better country in another 1000 years to come,” Salasya said.

Salasya’s win over hate speech remarks

The legislator’s sentiments have come moments after a Nairobi court allowed the withdrawal of a hate speech case against him after he complied with conditions set by the judiciary and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

The decision was delivered by Senior Resident Magistrate Paul Mutai at Milimani Magistrates’ Court, which found that Salasya had actively participated in peace initiatives as required.

Salasya faced the charges in May 2025, when he was accused of posting inflammatory remarks on social media targeting a specific community. The court had initially refused to withdraw the case until he issued a public apology and conducted a 14-day social media peace campaign promoting national cohesion.

Prosecution counsel Nora Achieng, representing the Director of Public Prosecutions, told the court that an agreement had been reached with NCIC to resolve the matter amicably, focusing on reconciliation and peace rather than a full trial.

The magistrate confirmed that Salasya had participated in peace campaigns reaching over 1,000 people and had maintained a sustained presence on social media promoting harmony, satisfying the court’s requirements.
