Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has come out publicly criticising the Orange Democratic Movement for what he describes as capturing Kenyans.

Taking to his official X account on Friday, February 13, 2026, Salasya, while describing the ODM political drama, stated that the party is being used by State House to confuse Kenyans.

He went on accusing the party of being used by the State House to confuse Kenyans with discussions around ODM politics, naming Edwin Sifuna as the mastermind of the confusion.

“ODM is united but being used by the state house to confuse Kenyans to keep them busy discussing ODM politics as they continue to steal, and the mastermind of these silly games is this conish man in the name of Sifuna, but very soon Kenyans will know the truth,” Salasya added.

The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) lawmaker explained Kenyans’ obsession with the ODM party, noting that when ODM ends, Kenyans will then be freed.

“ODM is the problem of Kenyans. The day ODM will die completely is the day Kenyans will get freedom,” he added.

Plans to oust Sifuna were scripted

His remarks come barely a day after Salasya had described the political drama surrounding the ouster of Edwin Sifuna as ODM Secretary General as a calculated strategy designed to mislead Kenyans ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Taking to his official X account on Thursday, February 12, 2026, Salasya said Sifuna’s so-called fight outside ODM, while publicly claiming loyalty to the party, is a tactic aimed at creating a false sense of opposition for those dissatisfied with President William Ruto’s administration.

“Kenyans, this is all part of a bigger plan to trap you in confusion ahead of 2027. Sifuna’s “fight” outside ODM while claiming loyalty is a tactic to lure those rejecting Ruto’s regime into a false sense of opposition,” Salasya stated.

Adani deal

The Mumias East legislator cited past incidents, including the controversial Adani deal, as evidence of Sifuna’s inconsistent political stance.

Salasya also noted that Sifuna did not publicly challenge the deal when his then-party leader, the late Raila Odinga, defended it.

“We saw it with the Adani push; Sifuna never uttered a word when his then party leader, the late Rt Hon Raila, tried to defend the deal,” he stated.

Salasya further urged Sifuna to take a clear and definitive position if he intends to break from ODM, emphasising that Kenyans deserve transparency rather than what he called “political theatrics”.

“The current unfulfilled MoU with UDA and now this arranged dramatic ouster. If Sifuna is genuine, let him fully break from ODM and declare his stand without the games. The people deserve better than these political theatrics,” he wrote on X.
