Ruto set for Migori return days after gracing Piny Luo Festival
President William Ruto is set to return to Migori County this Saturday, December 27, 2025, days after touring the county for the fifth edition of the Luo Piny Festivals.
National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohammed has confirmed Ruto’s itinerary, where the president will grace a grassroots football tournament at Kadika Primary School grounds in his Suna East Constituency.
“We are glad to host President William Samoei Ruto in Suna East Constituency and Migori County today for the closing ceremony of Hon. Junet Mohamed Tournament,” Junet confirmed.
The event is also expected to see regional succession politics play out with several regional leaders of the region, such as Governor Ochilo Ayacko and MPs and MCAs, expected to attend.
As part of his continued charm offensive in the Luo Nyanza region during the Piny Luo festival, Ruto recognised with elders of the community handing him traditional charms meant to protect him from harm.

He also made a groundbreaking declaration, signaling a possible pre-election pact with the region’s dominant party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
While hinting at an extended collaboration beyond their current deal under the broad-based arrangement signed between him and the late Raila Odinga in March 2025, Ruto underscored that the new partnership would be approached on a solid base.
ODM-UDA pre-election pact
“You have to make plans yourself and strengthen your ODM party. We want a strong ODM so that we can plan together the leadership of this country. If you make your party strong, I will also make the UDA party strong, and we can then proceed to agree on how we will form the government,” he stated.
Tribute to Raila
The president also paid tribute to the ODM leader, acknowledging his immense role in shaping his own journey to becoming the country’s fifth president.
“I was an ODM member, but God had His plans, and I took a different path. Raila was our teacher of politics. I was the top student in Raila’s class, and he contributed a lot to my becoming president of Kenya,” he said.
