Political goons’ mobilisation in 2026/27 will lead to ICC – Moses Kuria
The Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party leader, Moses Kuria, has warned against the use of goons in 2026 and 2027 as political temperature in the country rises heading into the next general election in 2027.
Taking to X on Saturday, January 3, 2026, the former Trade Cabinet Secretary cautioned that going the goons’ way will lead some politicians into the corridors of justice at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Kuria’s warning shot
”The biggest risk to Kenya’s security and democracy is use of goons as tools of political Mobilisation in 2026 and 2027. I have talked to several friends from the Diplomatic Community. I can tell you without fear of contradiction that some people will end up at the ICC. This time round, no witnesses will disappear!” Kuria wrote.
His sentiments come against the backdrop of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen putting politicians who thrive in goons’ mobilisation on notice. Murkomen has warned that those funding goonism will soon face the law, insisting their days are numbered.

Speaking to a local TV station on Tuesday, December 3, 2025, the Interior CS said the government would not shield rogue police officers or politicians found enabling criminal gangs across the country.
He described the situation as a growing security concern, noting that the November 27, 2025, by-elections had exposed worrying ties between officers and machete-wielding groups, adding that the spread of gangs is being fuelled by individuals on both sides of the political divide.
Spotlight on goons
“There are people who support the government, but they invest in gangs. We cannot condone this issue, and we cannot protect them simply because they are supporting or opposing the president,” he said.
On the same, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has called out President William Ruto for presiding over what he describes as increasing attacks on innocent worshippers, women, children and clergy, following chaos that broke out at PCEA Kariobangi North Church.

Gachagua shared the statement on his official Facebook account on Sunday, November 30, 2025, shortly after police fired teargas inside and outside the church during a thanksgiving service attended by him and other leaders.
“It is unfortunate and disturbing that William Ruto is turning Kenya into a militia country where women, children and churches have become his key targets of lethal attacks,” he said.
He called out the State for using goons to punish residents who voted against the ruling party in the just-concluded by-election.
“For the record, William Ruto, sending goons and police to attack us, the PCEA church, Kariobangi North, today, to punish the people of Kariobangi North for rejecting your UDA Candidate, shows how desperate you are,” he stated.
