Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has explained why he deliberately avoids engaging in public confrontations with President William Ruto and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying personal reflection and a desire for harmony guide his political conduct.

Speaking during an exclusive interview on a local media station on Friday, December 26, 2025, Nyoro said age and shared generational space with the families of top leaders have made him more cautious about how he engages in political disputes.

“Former deputy president, his sons are my age set. The daughters of the president, I mean, in terms of age, almost. They would be, I mean, but I would marry his daughter. I mean, because of age,” Nyoro stated.

Personal restraint

The MP noted that while politics often demands sharp exchanges and public criticism, he has consciously chosen restraint, even when he feels strongly about certain issues.

“So sometimes I decided I have to be different. Because I could wonder, there are some things I feel, as a politician, as a human being, I want to let out. I want to say this thing,” he explained.

The MP emphasised that watching peers engage in political conflicts with their parents would be uncomfortable for the children of political leaders.

“But then I could wonder, if the son of the deputy president is watching me doing anything to, or to kurushiana maneno with the father. And if the children who are almost my age, or even the president, are watching, what kind of a person would I be?” Nyoro questioned.

Choosing harmony

As a result, the legislator said he has chosen to exercise self-control for the sake of peace and personal integrity, even if it means holding back opinions he would otherwise express publicly.

“And I decided, there is a lot of things I’m going to swallow. Just for harmony. And for me to do the right thing, not just the convenient one,” he stated.
