Outspoken political analyst Herman Manyora has come out warning the united opposition against approaching the upcoming Ol Kalou mini-polls with different parties eyeing the seat, saying that they risk losing it to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

This comes after the united opposition decided to have what they termed as “friendly fire” in the Ol Kalou by-election, where each party under the united opposition umbrella will field a candidate.

While speaking during his daily analysis on Monday, May 11, 2026, he warned them to be careful, saying that there are some places where, if they do not unite, it will be a field day for President William Ruto’s UDA party.

“There are places where if you don’t have a united front, Ruto will beat you; there are places where you must have one candidate against William Ruto; and there are also places where those might not apply; it must be informed by the situation on the ground,” Manyora stated

Manyora continued, stating that their move to field multiple candidates should have been informed by the realities on the ground since a slight mistake, according to him, will hand President William Ruto a win.

Old Kalou zoning talks

This comes days after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua came out exuding confidence in the DCP party, saying that UDA is not a threat and that each party within the United Opposition is free to field a candidate and have what they term as “friendly fire”, insisting that they will not have zoning talks.

“There will be no zoning within the United Opposition in Ol Kalou because UDA is finished. We have decided that each party within the United Opposition should field a candidate.”

This comes after DCP’s stellar performance in the Ol Kalou party primaries, where they recorded a higher turnout than the United Democratic Alliance.

Kamau Ngotho emerged victorious in the DCP race with 12,957 votes, while the third-placed candidate, Peter Karanja, garnered 3,919 votes — a figure still higher than the 3,221 votes secured by UDA winner Samuel Muchina Nyaga. He narrowly defeated his closest rival, George Wambugu Kanuri (alias Delight), who garnered 3,077 votes.

The second runner-up in the DCP party, Paul Waiganjo, came a distant second with 4,978 votes, while Peter Karanja came third with 3,919 votes, pushing the total turnout for the DCP exercise to over 20,000 votes, far ahead of the UDA party.
