Malala: Natembeya is NIS mole used to weaken United Opposition
Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala has accused Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya of being used by the National Intelligence Service (NIS) to weaken the united opposition from within.
While speaking in Kisia East on Friday, November 14, 2025, the outspoken politician was campaigning for the area DCP candidate in the upcoming by-election slated for November 27.
He said that, upon learning that the united opposition was going to win all the seats in the upcoming mini polls, some forces within the state decided to use Natembeya to undermine the coalition’s course and sow disunity, thereby preventing the united opposition from clinching all the seats.
Malala went on to state that, as the united opposition, they had agreed that the DAP-K party would cede ground to DCP, as they had in Malava, but Natembeya had refused and instead gone ahead to campaign for their candidate, Abraham Ayaya.

He added that the party leader, Eugene Wamalwa, had already agreed to leave Kisia East to DCP, but Natembeya had refused and was frequenting the ward with the aim of popularising their candidate’s bid.
He said that Natembeya was being used to cause disunity between DCP and DAP-K, which are constituent parties of the larger united opposition, so that the government or the broad-based government could manage to carry the seat.
“Serikali imeona tunaenda kushinda hizi viti zote, wakaenda wakapatia moja wetu pesa kwa jina George Natembeya, ikamwambia, ‘Enda kisia east uende uchokore ili tupoteze huko kisia east ili atigonganishe watu wa DCP na DAP-K; anatumiwa na NIS kuja kututenganisha,’” Malala said.
Natembeya’s demands
This came after Natembeya stormed Kwiseo to campaign for the DAP-K candidate Abraham Ayaya, who is seeking to replace the former Kisia East MCA who was brutally murdered in 2023.
Natembeya argued that DCP should cede ground for the DAP-K party, saying that there is no way DCP, which is led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, can field a candidate in Western Kenya, a zone he believes belongs to the DAP-K party.
He further stated that he would engage Gachagua to remove his candidate from the race, just as was done in Malava, since Kisia East is a DAP-K zone.
Wamalwa’s remarks
Eugene Wamalwa, while speaking on a local radio station on Friday, November 14, 2025, said that since the united opposition principals would all be storming the ward to campaign for their joint opposition candidate, who is the DAP-K candidate, it would be the right forum for Gachagua to drop his candidate from the race.

He argued that having a DAP-K candidate running against a DCP candidate undermines the spirit of the united opposition and risks splitting votes, giving the government, which also has a candidate in the race, a chance to win.
