Kenya’s political landscape was marked by parallel church engagements on Sunday, June 14, 2026, as leaders from the Linda Mwananchi movement gathered for a church service in Thika, while opposition leaders attended Mass at St. Mary’s Kibabii Catholic Church in Bungoma County as part of their ongoing Western Kenya tour.

The Linda Mwananchi leaders joined congregants at the AIPCA Thika Cathedral for worship and fellowship, using the occasion to engage with residents and reaffirm their commitment to championing the interests of ordinary Kenyans.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and his allies received a warm reception while making their way into the church.

The Edwin Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi movement is expected to address a rally in Thika, Kiambu County, later in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, top leaders of the United Opposition converged at St. Mary’s Kibabii Catholic Church, where they participated in a Sunday Mass before resuming their political engagements across Western Kenya.

United Opposition leaders

In a statement on X, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka highlighted the Mass at St. Mary’s church as a quiet reflection amidst the United Opposition journey across Western Kenya.

“This morning, we joined the faithful at St. Mary’s Kibabii Catholic Church for Holy Mass, a moment of prayer, thanksgiving, and quiet reflection amidst our journey across Western Kenya,” Kalonzo stated.

“Faith is the foundation of servant leadership. As we continue the Komboa Kenya Karavan, we carry with us the prayers of our communities and the conviction that a better Kenya is possible, one built on humility, integrity, and shared purpose,” Kalonzo stated

The opposition delegation, which includes Jubilee Deputy Party leader Fred Matiang’i and other coalition principals, has been traversing Western Kenya in what leaders describe as a listening tour aimed at gathering public views on governance, economic challenges, and the country’s future direction.

Ruto in Kajiado

At the same time, President William Ruto has attended a church service at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kiserian, where he joined worshippers in Kajiado County.

Among the leaders accompanying President Ruto are ODM Party leader Oburu Odinga, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Kisii counterpart Simba Arati.
