MP Robert Mbui reminds Aden Duale of Uhuru’s role in his political rise
Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has accused Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale of being ungrateful to former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Mbui told a local TV station on Monday, July 6, 2026, that the retired Head of State played a central role in Duale’s political career during the Jubilee administration.
Mbui made the remarks while responding to recent criticism of Uhuru by some leaders who served in his government.
“When you listen to the people who have been attacking former and retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, it is laughable. These are thankless individuals,” Mbui said.
He singled out Duale, arguing that the Health CS rose to prominence under Uhuru’s leadership.
“People who were seated at the table with Uhuru Kenyatta. People like CS for Health Aden Duale. Aden Duale was the Majority Leader in the National Assembly under the Jubilee Party, courtesy of Uhuru Kenyatta, for 10 years,” Mbui said.

Criticism of Duale
The Kathiani legislator questioned why Duale now criticises Uhuru’s administration after serving in one of its most influential parliamentary positions.
“Now he stands up and starts saying Uhuru failed. If Uhuru failed, how did he succeed? He was the Majority Leader under Uhuru’s era,” Mbui said.
He argued that political leaders should remain consistent in their public positions instead of changing their views after leaving office.
“I think the comments leaders make make us a laughing stock to the members of the public. That is why Kenyans don’t support political leaders,” he said.
Leaders’ consistency

Mbui also criticised what he described as inconsistency among some politicians on national issues.
“Because today you are here supporting Gen Zs, tomorrow you say the killings aren’t happening to our people. Let them continue,” he said.
His remarks come amid renewed political exchanges between leaders allied to President William Ruto and those defending the legacy of former President Uhuru Kenyatta as the debate over Kenya’s political direction ahead of the 2027 general election continues.
