Kenya Kwanza leaders condemn violence, rally support for Ruto’s agenda
Kenya Kwanza leaders have condemned rising cases of political violence while reaffirming their support for President William Ruto’s development agenda.
Speaking in Navakholo, Kakamega County, on Sunday, June 14, 2026, President Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, strongly condemned the stoning of a school bus during an incident at Harambee Market on June 13, terming the act unfortunate and unacceptable.
Farouk called on Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli to expedite investigations and ensure those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.
He further urged political leaders to embrace national unity and reject tribalism and divisive politics, warning that violence undermines democratic processes and threatens peace.
Future presidency
On the ongoing debate surrounding the 2032 presidential succession, Farouk defended his remarks supporting the possibility of a Luhya presidency, stating that every community has a constitutional right to aspire to the country’s top leadership position.

“I hear some opposition leaders are criticizing me for wishing that the Luhya community will one day produce a president. There is nothing wrong with aspiring for leadership and encouraging our people to dream big. Every community in Kenya has the right to pursue its political ambitions, and the Luhya community is no exception,” Farouk said.
Attack on opposition leaders
Meanwhile, Taveta MP John Bwire accused opposition leaders of promoting violence, saying political competition should never involve attacks on innocent children.
“You cannot succeed politically by causing violence, especially against school-going children. Leaders must preach peace and coexistence,” Bwire stated.

Malava MP David Ndakwa also took a swipe at the opposition, accusing it of lacking a clear development agenda.
Ndakwa said slogans and anti-government chants cannot substitute meaningful policies and development programs, urging residents to support government initiatives.
Emmanuel Wangwe said the government has invested in infrastructure, economic empowerment initiatives, and public services, adding that residents should support President Ruto’s development agenda.
“President William Ruto has brought development to our region through infrastructure projects, economic empowerment programs, and improved public services. The best way to appreciate that progress is by supporting his agenda, ” Wangeweka said.
