Kalonzo condemns abduction of Juja MP

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has strongly condemned the abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi, who was found in a distressing state near a coffee plantation in Kibichoi, Ruiru, a day after his mysterious disappearance.
The MP, whose clothes were torn and appearance disoriented, was rescued on Monday, May 25, 2025, and rushed to a Nairobi hospital for treatment.
“We condemn the abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi in the strongest terms possible,” Kalonzo Musyoka said in his statement on Monday, May 26, 2025.
The incident, which occurred during a church service at Full Gospel Church in Mugutha, sparked widespread outrage and raised concerns about the re-emergence of abductions and forced disappearances in Kenya.
Musyoka’s remarks came as the Opposition prepared to convene on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, to assess the broader state of political harassment and intimidation under the Kenya Kwanza regime. “We condemn the abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi in the strongest terms possible,” Musyoka stated on his X account.
He pointed out the alarming implications of the abduction saying; “If an MP who is entitled to security gets abducted in broad daylight, it means Kenyans are on their own.”

Koimburi’s controversial path
Koimburi’s disappearance followed a series of controversial statements and encounters with law enforcement. Notably, he had described William Ruto as rejected by God, the devil, and the church during a service on May 18, 2025, a remark that intensified his political friction.
Additionally, Koimburi faced arrest and charges over forged academic papers in February 2025, and his dramatic escape from Kiambu Law Courts after learning of his extended cash bail further fueled public and political discourse.
The MP who joined parliament in 2021 under the People Empowerment Party (PEP) had also claimed that the government spent to the tune of Ksh13 billion campaigning for Raila Odinga after the former PM’s defeat in the African Union Chairperson (AUC) race.
Musyoka’s call for opposition unity aims to address these incidents collectively, strategising against what he perceives as systematic harassment by the Kenya Kwanza regime.
