Kindiki warns opposition to prepare for a bruising battle ahead of 2027 polls

Deputy President Kindiki has come out breathing fire at opposition politicians, challenging them to brace for a showdown when the time for campaigns comes.
Speaking on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in a people empowerment drive in Kangundo Constituency, Kindiki noted that they have elected to shun confrontations with the opposition, stressing that they remain committed to delivering the government promises.
Kindiki, who was accompanied by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw’ah, among other leaders, however, warned that their inaction should not be misconstrued as a weakness.

“We have people roaming around inciting people and spreading tribal rhetoric. Speaking about which president will run for, I don’t know how many terms. I want to challenge them to focus on matters at hand and those pertinent to the people’s lives,” the DP said in his latest development tour of the country.
He particularly addressed the one-term criticism that gained traction in opposition rallies, stating that most politicians peddling the slogans had their time in government but never undertook meaningful projects during their tenures.
The DP dismissed the politicians as lacking an agenda for the people of Kenya.
“The majority of those going around with the noises and empty slogans were in leadership positions and had their time in government,” he stated.
“Those who were ministers and serving in other positions will have to account for their time. They should not think they can come and incite people on empty promises, thinking it will get them elected,” Kindiki said.
The DP concluded with a word of caution about an impending political showdown once the time for campaigns sets off.

“Some of them have seen that we remained mild and think that we are an easy target. Let me tell them we will square it out when the time for the campaign comes. In the meantime, we are engaged in the task of working for Kenyans, and we have no time to waste in useless politics,” he asserted.
The DP’s fiery remarks come days after he took aim at his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua. Speaking during a similar empowerment drive on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Kibirichia in Buuri, Meru County, he warned Gachagua and his team to prepare for an early defeat come 2027, saying the Kenya Kwanza government will win immensely owing to their tremendous track record.
“We are not cowards in politics. We are masters of it. We have given them time to say what they want and advance their political agenda, but when the time comes, they will get a rude shock. We are masters of politics. We will beat them badly and win early in the morning,” Kindiki said.
