The Jubilee Party has distanced itself from the zoning strategy, with Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta revealing that the party will not bar its candidates from seeking elective seats.

Speaking on an interview with a local station on Tuesday night, May 5, 2026, Kenta clarified that the Jubilee party previously collaborated with other parties, such as supporting the DCP in a recent Narok by-election to ensure an opposition victory, but this does not signal a permanent move toward zoning.

He noted that the decision in Narok was based on supporting the candidate with the most local influence at that specific time.

Political coalitions

He maintained that it would be unfair to tell these candidates to step down in favour of other parties without a clear assessment of their individual strength.

According to Kenta, any future decisions regarding political coalitions will be guided by thorough research rather than blanket party allocations.

Kenta said.

Jubilee on cooperation with opposition

Ole Kenta’s remarks come just days after the Jubilee Party called for opposition unity ahead of the upcoming Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.

In a statement dated April 22, 2026, the party has urged coalition partners to rally behind a single candidate under its banner.

The party said it will field a candidate in the by-election following the death of Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho, who was a member of Jubilee.

“In the spirit of building a credible, united, and formidable alternative government and in response to the growing call by Kenyans for opposition unity, Jubilee Party respectfully urges our coalition partners to support the fielding of a single opposition candidate under the Jubilee Party banner in the upcoming by-election.”

“The Party will field a candidate in the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election, in line with the fact that the position was previously held by a member of Jubilee Party,” part of the statement read.
