Jubilee party urges Ruto to address Uhuru directly, not through allies
The Jubilee Party has come out telling President William Ruto to face his predecessor as a man and not through his allies.
These remarks were made by the Jubilee Party Secretary General, Montalel Ole Kenta, who was issuing a presser on behalf of the party at their headquarters on Monday, May 4, 2026, where all top party officials were present.
“I would like to challenge President William Ruto to come out himself and address this issue himself instead of using sidekicks. If he has any issue with Uhuru’s activities, let him come out as a man and address it himself.”
Ole Kenta continued, telling Ruto that he should not use his sidekicks to fight the retired president, but instead face him directly.

The Jubilee SG continued fuming, saying that Ruto owes the fourth president, Uhuru Kenyatta, a duty to protect him in such cases when he is being attacked by politicians close to him, just as he himself would want to be protected when he leaves office in 2032.
The attacks began on Friday, May 1, 2026, after Uhuru spoke to his Jubilee Party members who were in Narok for the homecoming of Ole Kenta, who is also eyeing the Narok gubernatorial seat. The party has questioned what Uhuru did wrong by speaking to his party, which he used as a vehicle when seeking re-election in 2017.
Montalel continued defending Uhuru’s remarks, saying they were not offensive but rather a reflection of the issues Kenyans are currently grappling with.
He added that Uhuru’s move to speak to the public on what is taking place in the country is his right and freedom of speech, not a privilege from the state.
They also slammed a section of politicians aligned with the state who threatened that Uhuru’s retirement pension would be withheld should he continue engaging in politics.
The party stated that the retirement perks are a constitutional right that Uhuru should enjoy, not a political favour or privilege, as they are anchored in law. They further told the perpetrators of such threats, “We dare you.”
Uhuru’s speech

This comes after the fourth president issued a speech through his brother Muhoho Kenyatta’s phone, which has since brought the whole country to a standstill.
The retired president went head-on with those trying to limit his involvement in politics, saying he has a right to defend his party. He cited other jurisdictions such as the United States, where Barack Obama still defends his party despite being retired.
Gachagua defends Uhuru
He vowed that he will continue speaking his mind and will not be gagged by anyone. On the other side, Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has also come out to defend Uhuru Kenyatta, saying that it is his singular duty to defend the former head of state from any attack.
He also took a swipe at politicians threatening to strip him of his retirement perks, saying that if they move ahead to do so, once they take over power, they will reinstate them in full as required.
