Lang’ata Member of Parliament, Phelix Odiwuor, better known as Jalang’o, has made a bold announcement that he is sure he will win the Nairobi senatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

In a media interview on a local TV station on Tuesday night, February 24, 2026, the first-term MP shared that he is ready to take on the challenge of representing Kenya’s bustling capital in the Senate.

Jalang’o explained that his decision stems from his experiences in Parliament and his deep connection with the people of Nairobi.

“The day people will see me being sworn in as the Senator for Nairobi is when they will believe my words……As I run for a senate position, I am still proud of the work I am doing for the people,” Jalang’o said.

The legislator believes the Senate provides a more powerful platform to advocate for oversight and accountability in county governments.

He stressed that the residents of Nairobi deserve leaders who not only speak up but also actively work to ensure public resources are used wisely.

Jalang’o defends Ruto’s Reelection

The lawmaker further highlighted that he is confident that President William Ruto will secure a win in the 2027 general elections, considering the work he has accomplished.

He highlighted the development that has been initiated by the government as reasons for its re-election, cutting across infrastructure, healthcare services and youth empowerment.

Jalang’o argued that the city requires a more visible and proactive advocate for public interests in the Senate. He firmly believes that oversight is a vital constitutional duty that must be carried out effectively to ensure Nairobi County delivers essential services.

 Jalang’o earlier brushed off suggestions that his senatorial ambitions are being influenced by external political forces. Instead, he described his decision as a personal commitment driven by his desire to serve Nairobi in a greater capacity.

He confirmed his intention to run for the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket and expressed his readiness to face off against the current outspoken Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

As the political landscape begins to heat up ahead of 2027, Jalang’o’s announcement marks the beginning of what promises to be an exciting race.
