Gachagua meets DCP aspirants at Wamunyoro residence, pledges free and fair nominations

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua convened a meeting on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his Wamunyoro residence with 134 DCP aspirants from across Kirinyaga County, covering positions from Governor to Members of the County Assembly.

In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, March 11, 202, Gachagua said the meeting aimed to give guidance on party nominations and mobilise support ahead of upcoming elections.

Gachagua pointed out the party’s commitment to transparency and assured aspirants that nominations would be conducted fairly for all elective positions.

“I have, at the Wamunyoro residence, met 134 DCP aspirants from Kirinyaga County for the various seats from Governor, Senator, Woman Representative, Members of the National Assembly, as well as Members of the County Assembly,” Rigathi Gachagua stated.

He went ahead to point out the importance of adhering to party rules during the nomination process and emphasised the need to foster unity among members, stressing that the process would rely on the party’s membership register.

“I have given them a firm undertaking that our party, DCP, shall conduct free and fair nominations for all positions,” Rigathi Gachagua stated.

Gachagua encouraged aspirants to actively recruit party members ahead of nominations, noting that a strong membership base would strengthen their chances and ensure the legitimacy of the process. He advised aspirants to focus on grassroots mobilisation and constituency engagement.

“I encouraged them to step up recruitment of party members since nominations will be conducted using the party’s members register,” Rigathi Gachagua stated.

Consequences to the rebells

The former Deputy President also warned that anyone perceived as betraying the people’s trust, particularly those aiding rival political interests, would face consequences at the ballot box. He urged aspirants to be diligent and work hard to secure their positions without fear or favour.

“I have urged them to work hard to be elected; all traitors of the Kenyan people and our community who are helping William Ruto persecute our people must be voted out without fear or favour,” Rigathi Gachagua stated.

The meeting concluded with aspirants pledging to uphold the party’s values and to campaign in a manner that strengthens DCP’s credibility in Kirinyaga County. Gachagua reiterated that unity, discipline, and active engagement with constituents were key to success in the forthcoming elections.
