DCP invites aspirants for Ol Kalou by-election ticket

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has officially opened applications for aspirants seeking to vie on its ticket in the upcoming Ol Kalou Constituency by-election.

In a public notice dated April 26, 2026, the party’s National Elections Board called on qualified and interested candidates to submit their applications ahead of the mini-poll slated for July 16, 2026.

The position up for grabs is that of Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency.

“The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) National Elections Board hereby invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for the party ticket in the upcoming Ol Kalou Constituency by-election scheduled for 16th July 2026,” DCP said.

Application fee

According to the notice, aspirants will be required to pay a non-refundable nomination fee of Ksh250,000 for general applicants, while youth and persons with disabilities will pay Ksh125,000.

Application forms are available at the party headquarters, and candidates must attach all required documents alongside proof of payment.

The party has set May 2, 2026, as the deadline for submission of applications.

“All nomination fees should be paid via: Account Name: Democracy for the Citizens Party Bank: Equity Bank Paybill: 247247 Account Number: 254829. Application forms are available at the Party Headquarters. All applications must be submitted on or before Saturday, May 2, 2026,” DCP noted.

Ol Kalou by-elections

This comes after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced that a by-election for the Olkalou Constituency Member of the National Assembly seat in Nyandarua County will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

In a notice issued to the public on Sunday, April 26, 2026, the electoral body confirmed that preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and credible exercise, with voters expected to head to the polls to elect their new representative in the National Assembly.

“Notice of By-Election. By-Election for Member of National Assembly for Olkalou Constituency in Nyandarua County will be held on Thursday, 16th July, 2026,” IEBC stated.

DCP aspirants

Earlier, the Democratic for the Citizens Party (DCP) party leader, Rigathi Gachagua, announced that it will have a candidate in the forthcoming by-election in the Ol Kalou Constituency. He revealed that the party already had nine aspirants vying for the ticket.

Speaking in an interview with Kameme TV on Monday, April 20, 2026, Gachagua has promised his supporters that the party would hold free and fair nominations that would be transparent and democratic.

“DCP will field a candidate in the Olkalou constituency by-elections. DCP so far has 9 candidates for the by-elections, and I want to guarantee the people of Olkalou free and fair nominations for the party. We want to give the people the chance to decide on their candidate who will be our flagbearer,” Gachagua said.
