Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has confirmed that the Linda Mwananchi rally will be held in Kisumu on Sunday, April 26, 2026, dismissing fears of disruption despite reported threats from goons.

Speaking at a church service in Nakuru ahead of the Nakuru Linda Mwananchi rally on Sunday, April 19, 2026, Babu Owino maintained that the faction will hold a peaceful rally as planned, insisting that no amount of intimidation will stop leaders from engaging wananchi on key national issues.

He stated that their group remain committed to championing the rights and welfare of all Kenyans despite attacks from their opponents.

“Tukienda kwenye rally tunashambuliwa na goons, tusipoenda bado tunashambuliwa. Hata hivyo, tutaelekea Kisumu Jumapili, Aprili 26. Tunawakaribisha waje, sisi hatutaogopa kujitokeza,” Babu Owino said.

Loosely translate: “When we go to rallies, we are attacked by goons, and when we don’t go, we are still attacked by goons. We are going to Kisumu on Sunday, April 26, and we are saying those goons should come, we are ready, and we will show up,” Babu Owino said.

Prayer for goons

Owino further appealed to the bishop to pray for individuals planning to disrupt the rally, expressing hope that their minds can open up and they abandon any plans for violence.

“Tunawaomba hapa kanisani, Bishop, uwaombee hao wanaopanga fujo ili akili zao zifunguke, serikali iwasaidie kupata kazi, na waachane na vitendo vya vurugu,” Babu Owino said.

Nakuru Rally

Babu Owino made the remarks ahead of a mega rally at Mazembe Grounds in Nakuru Town West, scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., marking the culmination of the tour.

Linda Mwananchi has already held rallies in Kitengela, Kakamega, Narok, and Mombasa, drawing large crowds and signalling growing national appeal. The movement is also setting up a coordination hub to streamline operations, messaging, and resource mobilisation.

The faction has rolled out a multi-pronged strategy aimed at connecting with voters at the grassroots level. Central to this approach is mapping the country into regions and tailoring policy messages to address specific local concerns.
