Mudavadi lauds Kenya-US partnership, woos more investors

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has encouraged the US House Foreign Affairs Committee to champion deeper economic ties with Kenya.
This, Mudavadi says, should be achieved by inviting U.S. investors to explore the vast opportunities within the Kenyan market.
In a statement shared via his official X account on the night of Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Mudavadi revealed he had wooed the US investors during his meeting with Brian Mast, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, at Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
Peace and regional security
During the meeting, Mudavadi also commended the U.S. government for its steadfast support in promoting peace and regional security.
He was joined in the meeting by Kenya’s Ambassador to the U.S., David Kerich.
“Kenya and the United States have long collaborated in advancing peace and security across the Great Lakes Region, a partnership that remains vital for lasting stability in this dynamic area.
“In a productive engagement with Mr Brian Mast, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, at Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., I commended the U.S. government for its steadfast support in promoting peace and regional security.
“I also encouraged the committee’s leadership to champion deeper economic ties by inviting U.S. investors to explore the vast opportunities within the Kenyan market. I was joined by Kenya’s Ambassador to the U.S., David Kerich,” Mudavadi stated.

Mudavadi’s US trip
Mudavadi landed in the US on Tuesday, May 6, for a series of meetings with the Donald Trump-led government.
After his meeting with Brian Mast, he is now expected to hold talks with the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which is scheduled for today, Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Their talks, according to the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, aim to strengthen partnership between Kenya and the US across various areas, including security, trade, and investment.
”Mudavadi’s trip, following an invitation from the US government, will be the first high-level engagement between Nairobi and Washington DC since President Donald Trump was reelected. During the eventful trip, Dr Mudavadi will hold talks with Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, on Wednesday. Their talks aim to strengthen partnership between Kenya and the US across various areas, including security, trade, and investment,” Mudavadi’s office said in a statement.
The Foreign Affairs CS will subsequently have a meeting with the International Development Finance Corporation (IDFC) and a business roundtable with US investors at the US Chamber of Commerce.
