The Cabinet Secretary’s Champions Reception was a momentous occasion where outstanding teams were rewarded for their achievements and contributions to Kenyan sports.
Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards assisted
The highlight of the event was the financial aid provided to two prominent football clubs, Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.
Both clubs have faced challenges with former players and coaches reporting them to FIFA over unpaid dues.
To address this issue, the CS presented them with Ksh 5 Million each to directly settle their outstanding debts.
According to Namwamba, the money will be directly paid to the players/coaches that the clubs owe.
“We won’t give these clubs the money but we shall instead send it directly to Fifa and CAF. We are not going to allow club officials to mess up with the lives of players again,” he said.
The CS also announced the ministry’s intervention for the just concluded Football League right from the lower levels to the premier league.
