State House church
President William Ruto’s confirmation that he is building a church at the State House is set to attract more criticism and support in equal measure.
Although the president said he would build the church using his money, the initiative is expected to be opposed by those who claim it is a wrong move since State House sits on public land.
“I am one person who believes in God, and I have no apologies to make for constructing a church. Do you understand me? I am not going to be sorry to anyone for building a church. We shall build the church of God.
“Let the devil protest the decision and do that which he pleases. I am told that the papers are saying that I am building a church here at the State House. It is indeed true; I am building a church here at the State House,” Ruto said in defence of his move to build a church estimated at Ksh1.2 billion.
Ruto equally observed that the church structure he found at the house on the hill was made from an iron sheet and did not meet the standards at the State House. However, the money that the new structure will consume is expected to raise eyebrows given the hard economic times that most Kenyans undergo.

Opposition heightened campaign
After high-octane activities in the Western region, where they visited Vihiga, Kakamega, Bungoma, and Trans-Nzoia counties, the opposition is set to continue with their criticism of the government at their various engagements in the day.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Caleb Amisi, George Natembeya, Fred Matiang’i, Richard Onyonka, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Eugene Wamalwa are the opposition figures who took the western region by storm over the last three days.
