Zoo FC have been quick to make their stance known in the ongoing football discourse by pulling out from the FKF Transition Committee’s National Super League.

Through a Facebook post, Zoo FC chairman Ken Ochieng said: “Among other issues, our petition and that of the Division 2 teams are concerned with the legality of the FKFTC’s actions in running the FKF Leagues in contrary to the FKF Constitution and arbitrary to FKF Rules and Regulations and by extension its predecessor.”

“Management of the said leagues in a contrasting manner being their primary mandate. Conspicuously, the FKFTC has ignored the FKF Standing Committees and Judicial Bodies and gone ahead to arbitrarily appoint some Kangaroo Committees in disregard of the FKF Constitution that they ought to have religiously upheld.”

The chairman went on to state that the club has been a victim of match manipulation, suffered poor officiating and unfair/delayed findings during match-day protests.

“In view of the above, we hereby immediately withdraw from the FKFTC organised and run NSL 2021 -2022 season. To participate in a disorderly mismanaged league is a betrayal to FIFA, CAF and FKF Statutes and the leagues they organize where we dream to feature when everything stabilises.”

“To this end, we await the FKF directions on when a FIFA-recognized league will commence.”. Read the statement.

FKF Transition Committee

Sports CS Amina Mohamed via Gazette notice dated June 17 extended the mandate of Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee which ended on June 14 for the next two months.

The gazetted committee killed hopes of a 13-member committee formed by football stakeholders last Saturday to take charge of the football activities after the end of the term of the Transition Committee.

The 13-member committee was led by FKF Murang’a Branch Chairman Robert Macharia and Nairobi East Branch Chairman Amos Otieno as his deputy.

Zoo FC have now pulled out of the league having played 27 matches, and being at position 8 with 41 points on the log. APS Bomet remain league leaders with 57 points.
