Wahome Thuku: Kenya’s silent majority should deliver presidency to Matiang’i
Lawyer Wahome Thuku has once again openly campaigned for former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s 2027 State House bid.
He is arguing that Kenya’s “silent majority” should rally behind him when the country heads to the ballot.
Writing on Facebook on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Thuku said that millions of Kenyans remain silent and will ultimately determine who becomes the country’s next president.
According to Thuku, more than 97 per cent of Kenyans do not publicly express their political opinions despite closely following national affairs.
“Over 97% of the 55+ million Kenyans are actually the silent lot on matters political. All the political noise you hear in Kenya comes from just 3% of the national population. The rest are the majority by far,” he wrote.

Thuku said many Kenyans avoid political debates because of the nature of their jobs, their personalities, religious beliefs or because they dislike the toxicity associated with politics.
He argued that silence should not be mistaken for ignorance.
Wahome Thuku advises Kenyans
“That is not to mean you, the SM, don’t know what is happening. You know even better than the noise hornbills because you spend time listening, while they spend time thinking what to say.
“You are wise. You observe, analyse, digest, and keep it to yourselves, waiting to speak at the ballot,” he stated.
Thuku urged the silent majority to make what he termed the right choice in the 2027 General Election, saying voting day is the only opportunity many of them have to publicly express their political views.

“You can’t keep quiet all your life only to make an awkward ‘speech’ on the voting day, when you are ‘silently’ inside the voting booth. You will have wasted all your political moments on earth,” he said.
He further argued that quiet voters have already assessed those likely to seek the presidency and know who has performed and who has not.
“You know the only presidential candidates we will have in 2027. In your silent moments, you always study them critically since you don’t want to spend time TALKING about them. You know who is a worker and who has been lazy for yrs,” Thuku wrote.

Endorses Matiang’i
Thuku went on to declare that the silent majority already knows who should lead Kenya, identifying Matiang’i as the preferred candidate.
“You know who is being propped for purposes of manipulation. You know who will genuinely change Kenya. You are always listening. You know that the person is Dr. Fred Matiang’i,” he wrote.
He concluded his message by appealing to Kenyans to vote overwhelmingly for the former Interior CS.
“2027, the only time you will speak, do it in one ‘voice’. Speak well at the ballot. Give it to Dr FOM,” Thuku stated.
The latest remarks are consistent with Thuku’s recent public support for Matiang’i’s presidential ambitions.

Earlier in July 2026, following a viral photograph of Matiang’i with ODM leaders Junet Mohamed and Simba Arati at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Thuku argued that even political rivals were eager to be associated with the former Interior CS because of his growing political influence.
Addressing Matiang’i, he wrote: “It’s called ENVY. They can’t skip a photo moment with you, and you should allow them to bask in that glory. I hope I have passed the message.”
