Zambezi 7s: Wambua names Morans travelling squad

Shortly after naming the squad, Wambua has expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and potential to deliver strong performances.
The selected squad blends promising young talent with rising stars from the Kenya Sevens setup, highlighting the Union’s continued commitment to developing depth and strengthening the national sevens programme.

Coach Wambua has also noted the team’s enthusiasm and determination ahead of their departure, saying the tournament presents a crucial opportunity for the players to gain valuable experience and showcase their abilities on a competitive platform.
Wambua optimistic
“We have assembled a quality squad with a blend of skill, energy, and hunger to compete. This is an important step for these players as we continue strengthening the pipeline for the national sevens program. We believe they are ready to represent the country with pride and deliver excellent performances,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) had announced that the Kenya Morans will fly out to Harare, Zimbabwe to take part in the Zambezi Challenge Sevens set to take place from Saturday, 8, to Sunday, 9, November 2025.
Straight from finishing third in the 2025 edition of the Safari Sevens that took place on home soil at the Nyayo National Stadium from Friday, October 10, to Sunday, October 12, 2025, in Nairobi, the Morans are set to test themselves on away territory.
Some of the teams that will take part in the competition include Zimbabwe, who are expected to field their main team and a second side; Zambia; Botswana; and South African franchise outfits.
Morans faced Zimbabwe twice at the 2025 Safari 7s and beat them on both occasions. They first picked up a 27-7 win in the group stages before completing the double with a 19-0 win that secured a third-place finish. The team is expected to fly out of the country on Thursday, with the squad to be named in the days to come. The Morans are in pool B, alongside Pitbulls and Old Hararians.
