Youngster Anyien claims fifth leg of NCBA sponsored US kids golf tourney

Youngster golfer Kevin Anyien starred in the 15 to18 years boys’ category after shooting a score of 88 points on gross as the fifth leg of the NCBA-sponsored U.S. Kids Golf – Nairobi Local Tour came to a close yesterday at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club.

Anyien was followed closely by Ryan Mutinda who took the runners-up position after carding a score of 84 during the tournament where 136 budding golfers showcased their golfing skills.

In to the girls’ 15 to 18 years category, Maryam Mwakitawa topped with a gross score of 84 points with Anthonia Mbuthia coming in second with a score of 94.

Shashwat Harish was the champion in the 13 to14 years’ category with a gross score of 79 points. He beat Junaid Manji who shot 80 points to claim the second position in the category.

Meanwhile, Peter Gathogo’s gross score of 83 was enough to earn him bragging rights among 12-year-olds, followed by Aidan Gachora who shot a gross of 88.

Among the 11-year-olds, Mwathi Gicheru carded a 74 points  to emerge the winner followed by Amar Shah with 77.

The tournament is jointly organized by the Junior Golf Foundation, U.S Kids Golf and supported by NCBA Bank.
