AFC Leopards Sports Club has extended the contracts of key players in their current squad ahead of the new premier league campaign.

The four, captain Peter Thiong’o, Washington Munene, Cliff Nyakeya and goalkeeper Levis Opiyo have put pen to paper ending weeks of uncertainty at the club. Nyakeya, Thiongo and Munene have signed extensions of one year each whilst Opiyo penned a two-year deal. Winger Jaffari Owiti has also extended his contract by a further two years after spending last season on loan at Posta Rangers.

Opiyo who spoke afterwards following his extension of his stay at the Den stated; “I am happy to have renewed my contract with this beloved club. My target for this season is to perform better than last season. We have not lost any players this season which means that we will have a great bond as a team. To our wonderful fans, I promise that we will work hard as a team to deliver greater results,” said the ex-Nairobi City Stars and Gor Mahia custodian.

Thiongo on his part who is Assistant Captain at the Club has been an integral player in the squad of Patrick Aussems having arrived two years ago from Kakamega Homeboyz. He said he was hopeful of a successful campaign that is slated to start in the coming weeks.

“I am happy to renew many contracts with this great team and I am looking forward to delivering my best to the team. I really appreciate all the support from our wonderful fans; hoping for more of it next season.”

Speedy winger Nyakeya formerly of Wazito FC, said; “I am happy to have extended my stay at AFC Leopards. Looking forward to a great pre-season as we prepare for the new season.”
