Strathmore University men’s handball team had a good outing last weekend by posting two wins to help their cause in the Kenya Handball Federation-National League at the Nyayo Stadium Courts.

The Lang’ata-based side beat rival University sides to pick double points in the process. In their first duel, Strathmore beat Kenyatta University (KU) 23-22 in a close contest and 24 hours later they spanked Technical University of Kenya (TUK) 28-13.

In the first game, the University lads had Samwel Mutuku leading the charts with five goals. He was duly assisted in the cause by the duo of Rashid Ingwela and Brian Muraguri whom each brought in four goals apiece.

The tight duel saw KU take the first-half lead 11-09 before the contest shifted in the second stanza. For the larger part of the game, it was more or less a swinger with both sides getting opportunities on the go.

KU on their part had Morgan Simiyu with a game-high seven goals with Amos Keter on five and Bethuel Kiprop on four goals with Strathmore surviving a late scare.

Against TUK, it was a whole different approach for Strathmore University who did not allow their opponents’ leeway to play to their best.

Eshton Situma helped himself to six goals with Prevaler Muhani with four and the trio of Shadrack Ketuta, Rashid Ingwela and Brian Murangiri once again helping the charge as they weighed in with three goals apiece.

The first half closed at 12-07 in favour of Strathmore who defended much better and closer.
