St. Joseph’s Boys thrash Nyanza’s Agai to storm nationals finals
St. Joseph Boys Kitale have secured passage to the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two national games finals after a convincing 3-0 victory over Agai Secondary School this Friday, August 1, 2025.
The Trans Nzoia County Champions in Boys Soccer proved too good against their Nyanza counterparts in a one-sided clash that was staged at the Mumias Sports Complex
JOBO’s goals were scored by the striking pair of Mwalati and Kiboi, with red-hot Instie Simiyu wrapping up the score to exert the dominance of the western-based school.
Into the finals
In the clash, the Trans Nzoia School, which edged St. Anthony’s Kitale as the new region’s champions, showed early intent, coasting to a two-goal cushion at the break.
The team held on to their perfect start despite Agai threatening to hit back in the final half that remained a tense exchange.
Simiyu’s well-taken effort put the clash beyond Agai as JOBO stormed the final of the National Games.

The victory stretched St. Joseph’s Boys cruising performance and exceptional football mastery on the national stage following wins against Nairobi representatives Highway Secondary School.
St. Joseph’s Boys launched their Secondary School National Games campaign in style with a commanding 3-1 victory over Highway Boys from Nairobi. The thrilling encounter was held at Kakamega High School grounds.
The clash also saw Insitine Simuyu help himself to a brace in the tie.
FEASSA beckoning
Meanwhile, despite the defeat, Agai, who reigned supreme in the Nyanza championship, secured their place in the upcoming FEASSA games set for Kakamega County in August.
The team reached the semifinals of the 2025 National KSSSA Ball Games and have all secured qualification for the upcoming FEASSA Games.
In the girls category, Nyanza representatives Kobala Girls, Nasokol, Madira School from Vihiga, and Butere Girls are among the teams expected to grace the finals category as the race for the national title goes a notch higher.
The stage will also see Madira and Butere Girls, who met in the regional competitions, renew their rivalry at the national stage.
National title hopefuls Madira Girls have already made their intention clear after edging out Nyanza champions Kobala 1-0 as the secondary schools’ ball games kicked off in Kakamega on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Madira edge Kobala
The Western region’s representatives scored the all-important goal through Vivian Amondi in a match played next to Kakamega Boys.
Amondi found her way past Kobala Mixed Secondary School custodian Scovia Awuor from a free kick awarded in the opening minutes of the first half following a foul on teammate Valery Leah Nekesa by an opponent.
Amondi’s clinically taken free kick hit the crossbar and ricocheted into Kobala’s goalmouth, leaving goalkeeper Scovia Awuor, who also doubles as the national Under-17 and Under-20 custodian, bewildered, as the huge crowd of football enthusiasts, comprising mostly locals, gave hosts Madira a standing ovation.
During the second half, Kobala, boosted by five Romanian-trained players (fullback Sheila Awuor, left center back Brenda, right centre back Esther Atieno and left winger Lucy Akinyi), combined with centre forward Beffine Shaley and attacking midfielders Ida Akinyi, Lilian Anyango, and Sey Lilian to dominate the entire half.
Madira survived several scares and goalmouth forays from the Nyanza regional champions.
