Several Kenyan sports personalities and lovers penned heart warming congratulatory messages to newly-elected President William Ruto while calling on Kenyans to unite despite their political differences.
“Congratulations to the President-elect, My friend Dr @WilliamsRuto. Looking forward to your leadership and implementation of your manifesto. Kazi kwako,” wrote former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama on a social media message.
Incidentally, this is not the first time that the President-elect is sharing plaudits with Wanyama; Ruto praised the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder in 2018 for being a good role model to the country’s youth.
“We laud footballer Wanyama for promoting grassroots football in Kenya and being an inspiration and role model to our youth who aspire to join paid ranks,’’ Ruto tweeted then while exchanging a rugby T-shirt emblazoned with ‘Number One Hustler’ words with the football celebrity.
In the meantime, Rugby star Oscar Ayodi joined in to congratulate Ruto on the landmark victory.
“Congratulations in advance Dr. @WilliamsRuto#Freedomisviva,” tweeted Ayodi.

Amani National Congress Chairman Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator-elect Moses Wetangula, who are diehard fans of Premier League giants AFC Leopards, also sent congratulatory messages to Ruto. In his message, Mudavadi said, “we have done it! Congratulations to the President-Elect His Excellency William Ruto. Team Kenya Kwanza! Freedom has come! God Bless Kenya!”
Wetangula said, “The deal is done!! William S Ruto is the 5th. Kenya has a new progressive, dynamic, reliable and dependable President.
Congratulations my brother Ruto for this deserved recognition, appreciation and just reward,’’
Another complimentary message was received by former sports minister and currently Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala.
In his message, Balala said,” Congratulations on your victory Dr William Ruto, President-Elect, Republic of Kenya. It is by God’s grace and the valid will of the people, you were elected President.
You can transform this country for the betterment of all.”
The former Mvita Constituency Member of Parliament wished Ruto the best as he prepared to assume the responsibilities of such a high office.
