FKF Elections: AFC Leopards’ Shikanda and Murang’a Seal’s Macharia among elected NEC members
AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Shikanda has been voted in as the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Executive Committee (NEC) Member for Nairobi.
Shikanda emerged victorious in the Saturday, December 7, 2024, race after beating Michael Majua in a highly contested race.
The former Harambee Stars player garnered 25 votes against 23 votes for Majua.
Other candidates in the race included Isaac Macharia, who got 21 votes, and James Masese, 16, while Athanas Obango got just one vote.
Seal president elected
Murang’a Seal President Robert Macharia also claimed victory in the FKF elections after beating Gordon Davies to become the Central Region NEC member.
Macharia garnered 54 votes against Davies, who got 35 votes.
For Coast, Gabriel Ghendi garnered 32 votes to retain his seat as an NEC member of the region, outsmarting his closest rival, Edward Odour, who collected 29 votes.
Former referee Caleb Amwayi was pronounced the winner after beating Nick Yakima and Kelvin Mwangu to become an NEC member for the Western region.
Amwayi garnered 43 against 26 while Mwangu came in third with 21 votes.
Collins Opiyo Kalee won the Nyanza Region NEC member seat with 24, followed by George Oria Ong’undi (20), while Stephen Ochiel Otieno managed 18. Bavon Omwocha had 17, Robert Onyango seven, while Paul Mayieko and Laban Adero Jobita got two and one, respectively.
In the Eastern Region, Charles Njagi, the chairman of NSL side 3K-FC, was elected the new NEC member with 40 votes, beating Joseph Mutwiri, who came in second with 29.
Ahmedqadar Mohammed Dabar retained his North Eastern NEC member seat after getting 63 votes, beating Abdullahi Salat, who managed 26, while Sahid Dahir Jibril got zero in the FKF elections.
In Upper Rift, Bernard Korir emerged the winner after getting 48 votes, while Solomon Kiptegon Tanui got 35 and Evans Kipchumba followed with only 4 votes.
