Shabana outmuscle KCB in Kasarani thriller
Shabana FC delivered a stunning performance to beat KCB FC 3-1 in Saturday’s early kickoff match at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi, in the FKF Premier League.
The result extends Shabana’s unbeaten run and halts the Bankers’ push to return to the summit of the table.
The match started at a fast pace, with Shabana taking the lead in the 13th minute. KCB struggled to find rhythm in the opening stages, and Shabana looked comfortable on the ball.
Obina doubled Shabana’s advantage in the 23rd minute, finishing neatly after a quick attack. The Bankers, despite their attacking intentions, were unable to respond as Shabana’s defence. By the 31st minute, Shabana’s dominance was clear, with the Bankers failing to break through despite controlling possession at times.
The first half ended 2-0 to Shabana. KCB attempted to push forward in added time, but Shabana’s defence held firm. During the break, KCB looked to regroup, knowing a strong second-half performance was crucial to keep their title hopes alive.
KCB began the second half with renewed urgency. Their efforts paid off in the 49th minute when the hosts pulled one back, making it 2-1. The goal briefly lifted the Bankers’ spirits, but Shabana remained composed and continued to threaten on the counter.

Shabana strike, KCB falter
Shabana made their first tactical changes in the 56th minute, bringing on Erick Otieno and Daddy Odoyo for Bronson Nsubuga and Lastborn Austine Odongo. Shortly after, Ezekiah Omuri scored Shabana’s third goal, restoring a two-goal lead and effectively settling the contest. The visitors’ midfield and defence remained disciplined, preventing KCB from creating clear-cut chances for the remainder of the match.
Both teams made late substitutions in the final minutes, but there were no further goals. Shabana held on to secure a 3-1 win.
For KCB, the loss is a setback in their quest to regain the top spot in the league. Despite dominating possession in parts of the game, they were punished on the counter and failed to convert key opportunities. The Bankers will now need to bounce back quickly as they continue their pursuit of the title.
Shabana’s victory strengthens their position in the league and adds to theirrecord of unbeaten matches. The side has now gone eight games without defeat, showing consistency in both attack and defence. Their next fixtures will be crucial as they aim to consolidate their mid-table position and continue challenging the bigger teams.
