Football Kenya Federation Premier League club, Shaban FC founder Dogo Khan, has praised the team’s fanbase for their loyalty towards the Gusii-based outfit.

On Friday, August 6, 2025, Khan said via Shabana FC X account that things have really changed at the stadium today, compared to the years back after he found Tore Bobe in 1980.

Shabana earned their promotion back to the FKF Premier League in 2023 after spending over 15 years in the lower leagues.

The team earned back their Premier League status after winning the 2022/2023 National Super League. Shabna’s resurgence in the league is being powered not just by the players’ efforts on the pitch, but by a roaring wave of support from the stands.

Week after week, the team’s loyal fans have been turning up in unprecedented numbers, creating an electric atmosphere that is inspiring the squad to push harder for results. They have been the most loyal supporters of their club alongside AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia diehards.

Looking back

Reflecting on the transformation, Dogo Khan noted a striking change in the level of commitment among supporters compared to the club’s earlier years.

“The fans today are so committed, unlike during those days. Today, you go to the stadium and see a huge difference. Thank you for the energy and commitment,” Khan said on Friday.

From Gusii land in the Nyanza region of Kenya, Shabana fans have been pushing the team as the third most popular community club in Kenyan football. Shabana’s 12th man has been moving with the team from Kisii to every corner of the country, creating an electric atmosphere in stadia for the love of the club that is doing well in the country’s top-tier league.

For Shabana FC, whose journey back to competitive relevance has been shaped by both struggle and resilience, this kind of unwavering support is fuelling the team to greater heights in the FKF Premier League.

In their second season playing top-flight football after rising from relegation, Shabana FC finished 5th in the 2024/2025 Football Kenya Federation Premier League with 53 points, two above league giants AFC Leopards, who finished 6th on the log. The team has also contributed two players to the national team Harambee Stars for CHAN 2024 assignments, Brian Michira and Austin Odongo.
