‘We showed we can compete’- Shabana captain speaks on massive win against Posta

Shabana FC‘s captain, George Onyango Dizzo, asserts that his team has proven its capability to compete in the FKF Premier League.

Despite enduring a challenging stint in the top tier, the FKF National Super League champions broke their six-match winless streak over the weekend by convincingly defeating Posta Rangers 3-0.

This triumph marked only their second victory under coach Sammy Pamzo Omollo since their resounding 5-2 win over Nzoia Sugar on January 14.

The long wait for another victory finally ended in April. Onyango emphasizes that many anticipated another loss heading into the match, but their performance demonstrated their true potential.

“We heard from everyone that we would lose again. We showed we can compete. We are not in the position we wanted to be, but we will take one game at a time,” Onyango stated post-match.

Facing Posta Rangers, Shabana FC displayed a spirited performance, scoring early in the first half. Lloyd Khavuchi opened the scoring in the 20th minute, followed by Mathew Tegisi adding the second just before halftime.

Tore Bobe secured the third goal in the 47th minute, extending Shabana’s dominance. Posta Rangers struggled to find their rhythm throughout the match.

This victory marks Tore Bobe’s fifth win of the season. However, despite the significant win, Shabana FC remains entrenched in the relegation zone.

Their only ray of hope lies in maintaining the momentum from this game to potentially avoid relegation by the end of the season.

Their impressive display earned three of their players a well-deserved spot in the Dream Team of the week.

The outstanding performance didn’t go unnoticed, as goalkeeper Fredrick Otinda, right back Dimpol Omamo, and left winger Mathew Tegisi were all named in the team of the week.

Other standout players from different teams also earned their spots in the Dream Team. Ulinzi Stars’ Glen Wafula and Kakamega Homeboyz’s Brian Eshihanda form the central defensive partnership, while Stephen Bulugu from Muhoroni Youth was selected as the right back.
