Wolsfsberger hit man, Ryan Ogam, has opened up on his experience with the national soccer team, Harambee Stars, under coach Benni McCarthy.

Speaking ahead of Kenya’s final 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Ivory Coast on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the Austria-based attacker revealed that earning a call-up to represent the nation means a lot to him.

Kenya, which is already out of contention for qualifying for the global games, heads into the tie in Abidjan after a morale-boosting victory over Burundi on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Speaking ahead of the Ivorians’ test, the budding striker revealed that perfecting his skills and improvements have been the topmost targets when called up to feature for the national team.

Giving the best

“It is a huge pleasure to don the national team colours. The jersey comes with its own weight of responsibility as we represent millions of Kenyans, so to me it is a great honour, and I am committed to giving my best every time I get the opportunity,” he stated.

The striker enjoyed a stellar run in the 2024 African Nations Championship, where he bagged three goals in the biennial continental games.

He carried the form to the international qualifiers, where he currently has three goals in his last four games, a streak he fancies to extend against the reigning African champions on Tuesday.

“I am lucky to play alongside players who have inspired me. You can have the favour of scoring goals, but the dream of getting to do these means a lot too. I hope to carry on in the form,” he stated.

Humble start

Alongside his mentor, Michael Olunga, Ogam has been a bright star in the national team’s quest for the World Qualifiers ties.

Surprisingly, little could be said about the young attacker when the qualifiers got underway back in 2024.

From humble beginnings, the ex-Tusker has risen to fame, becoming one of the nation’s most celebrated emerging talents, thanks to unwavering determination and hard work.

In a testament of his fast improvement and dedication, the former Tusker man is now among the most spoken of Kenyan rising stars.

The scintillating form earned him a move to the professional rank in the Austrian Bundesliga side, Wolsfberger AC.
