Former Kenyan international Titus Mulama has heaped praise on Harambee Stars striker Ryan Ogam after his stunning goal against Burundi on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in a World Cup qualifier match.

In a statement on his Facebook Page on Friday, October 10, 2025, Mulama praised Ogam’s predatory instincts after the substitute grabbed the match’s vital statistic with a goal.

The Austria-based poacher needed only seven minutes to impact the match after coming on as a second-half substitute.

“I guess the boy had played this game many times in his head already. That was special! Well done Harambee Stars, the work continues,” Mulama remarked on Ogam’s goal.

Instant impact

Against Burundi, the Wolsfsberger hit man displayed rare composure to beat the Burundi goalkeeper from outside the box with a well-taken left-foot strike.

The goal, his third in his last four international games, demonstrated his large repertoire of skills and his rich vein of goalscoring form.

The fast-rising Kenyan star replicated the goal he struck against Zambia in the 2024 CHAN games, where he picked up a ball inside the box and swiveled before firing past the Zambian keeper in Kenya’s 1-0 win over the CHipolopolo.

His quick decision-making and positional awareness lie among the attributes that have earned commendation from different quarters.

Speaking after the clash, Michael Olunga stated that Stars would welcome the victory, in spite of playing under unfavourable conditions and against an overly physical opponent.

“The pitch’s condition and the temperatures made it difficult to play. We knew it would be a physical game; that was their plan. They complained to the referee about every challenge, every loose ball they wanted it,” he stated.

Despite Kenya enjoying a man advantage following Caleb Bonfill’s red card inside the opening ten minutes, Harambee Stars remained largely peripheral in the tie that proceeded to be on level terms.

Olunga also decried their opponent’s approach to the game. He bemoaned excessive physicality and the tendency to complain about every single challenge.

“Physicality is allowed, but not aggressive physicality. They were complaining to the referee about every challenge and every loose ball. It was not a game to enjoy for us; we had to contend with the three points,” he stated.

The victory, Stars’ third in the qualifier after nine games, lifted Kenya to third in the group with 12 points.
