Ruaraka Sports Club’s dominance continues with commanding victory
Table-toppers Ruaraka Sports Club made light work of visiting Shree Cutchi Leva in a league duel at the weekend with a clinical 193 victory in week 12 of the ongoing Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association Super Division 50 Over Championship.
The home team, who scored 332-3 in their allotted overs, had won the toss selecting to bat with only three wickets lost in the opening innings. Ruaraka had Pushkar Sharma (149 runs off 136 balls) declared Man of the Match following an exceptional run in the crease with the bat. His hot streak included nine boundaries and seven-sixes. Sharma (pictured) was assisted in the numbers game by Neelakash Tambe (92 runs off 107 balls) who fell just shy of a century score.
After resumption, Cutchi Leva just managed a paltry chase attempt of 139 all out with the Ruaraka bowlers showing no mercy. The highest scorer for the visiting team was opening batsman Darsh Panchani (52 runs off 60 balls) assisted slightly by Ravi Rabadia (39 runs off 32 balls) but the pair had the misfortune of being dismissed by the danger-man Vishil Patel who altogether had five wickets while his captain Nitish Hirani collected three wickets in the game.
Meanwhile, at Sikh Union Grounds, the hosts suffered an embarrassing 204-run loss against heavyweights Stray Lions. The visiting team who batted first posted an impressive 372/9 in their allotted overs with a century-plus score courtesy of opening batsman Shubham Jadhav (171 runs off 126 balls) with his contribution including a staggering 18 boundaries.
However, a couple of wickets from the Sikhs ensured the Lions did not have more meat to gnaw at. Three Sikh players; Nehemiah Odhiambo (2 -65), Jasraj Kundi (2-67) and Arshdeep Singh (2-44) were the main wicket-getters in that busy first innings. On resumption, Sikh Union only managed a score total of 168 runs for the loss of 10 wickets with opener Aumkar Nanda (80 runs off 55 balls) emerging top scorer.
