KCB FC held defending champions Kenya Police FC to a goalless draw in their FKF Premier League Game Week 16 encounter at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on Friday, January 9, 2026, a match defined by contrasting approaches and disciplined defending rather than goals.

Match stats

The bankers, coached by Robert Matano, took control of the game in terms of possession, enjoying 57 per cent of the ball compared to Police FC’s 43 per cent. KCB also built patiently from the back, attempting 329 passes during the match, though their pass accuracy stood at 79 per cent. Police FC, on the other hand, were more economical in possession, completing 249 passes at an impressive 93 per cent accuracy.

Despite seeing less of the ball, Police FC were the more aggressive side in attack. The law enforcers recorded 20 shot attempts, significantly more than KCB’s 13, and posted a superior shot accuracy of 35 per cent. KCB struggled to trouble the opposition goalkeeper consistently, managing a shot accuracy of just 15 per cent.

Set pieces were evenly shared, with both teams earning three corners each. Discipline levels were also identical, as both sides received three yellow cards in a match that remained competitive but controlled. KCB were flagged offside twice, while Police FC avoided any offside calls, highlighting their measured forward play.

KCB goalkeeper Bonphas Munyasa emerged as the standout performer of the match and was deservedly named Man of the Match. Munyasa produced six saves, made nine successful claims, and completed five successful runouts. His commanding presence in goal, reflected in a 90 per cent claim efficiency, proved vital in keeping Police FC at bay and preserving the clean sheet.

New signings

Although both sides created chances, neither managed to convert their opportunities, and the match ended in a stalemate, despite Police FC making significant reinforcement during the mid-season transfer window.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League title holders have moved to reinforce their squad by bringing in three new players in the open mid-season transfer window. Confirming the reinforcement on Sunday, January 4, 2026, the side has signed Hernest Briyock Malonga, Yves Koutiama and Bowamba Jacques.

On the other hand, KCB have also acquired the services of former Police FC creative midfielder Francis Kahata.
