Although he is seemingly flattering as pertains to Tusker’s chances of retaining the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title, the team’s Head Coach Robert Matano has urged his charges to treat each of the remaining matches like a final.

Tusker takes on Wazito this evening in a midweek action in Ruaraka and true to his element, Matano has prevailed upon each of the player he shall field to give 100 percent in terms of performance apparently in a clarion call meant to dislodge Gor Mahia from the top of the league.

“There is absolutely no room for complacency and this is what I have been saying day in day out. I have been telling them (players) to be men enough to withstand whatever will be thrown at them. Trust me, if they do that we shall achieve our bench marks as Tusker FC,’ said Matano without substantially mentioning the team’s title prospects.

“We are not thinking about Gor Mahia at all. We are focused on ourselves and winning our matches and I believe this is what matters most,” added the tactician whose team, is just a point shy of league leaders Gor

Tusker beat battle-hardened Kenya Police 1-1 last weekend, thanks to Shaphan Siwa’s strike, and this should serve them with the requisite inspiration to face a relatively weaker Wazito who are clutching onto reeds in a bid to evade relegation.

After a spell of inconsistent results, Tusker has suddenly sprung to life with pundits expecting them to make light work of Wazito and in the process leapfrog Gor to the top of the standings with an advantage of a point with each team having played 25 matches.

“The past matches should not mirror the situation at the camp and we want to play with the swagger of defending champions. The cohesion and understanding is fever pitch and it’s upon the players to demonstrate what they have learned in training,” said Matano.

He added” We are confident and ready to tackle each of our remaining opponents. The idea here is to try to win all the remaining matches and then see what shall happen after that. It all boils down to the motivation of players moving forward and I’m sure we will go as far as we want.” said Matano.

The tactician has expressed gratitude that one-time Harambee Stars trialist Eric Zakayo is on-song yet again and is expected to partner Siwa, Jackson Macharia and Rodgers Ouma in search of goals.

As for Wazito who lost 2-0 to KCB in their latest fixture, another slump will see them drift further into the relegation zone whose other candidates are Vihiga Bullets.

However, on a good day, Wazito can be marvel to watch and some of their players to watch include Collins Okoth and Curtis Wekesa.
