Police FC and Shabana were among the major movers as Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League round 18 ties concluded on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Police shot to the top of the Kenyan Premier League standings following a 1-0 win over Mara Sugar.

Clinton Kinanga’s 56th-minute strike proved enough for the law enforcers’ victory, which moved them above Tusker FC although on goal difference.

Tusker, who beat Ulinzi Stars by a solitary goal is ranked second with an inferior goal difference after 18 games.

Bandari and Shabana also claimed crucial wins in the weekend ties.

Youngster Ezekiah Omuri claimed the match’s plaudits for Shabana with his first-half goal proving sufficient to silence Sofapaka on Sunday at Dandora stadium.

With the win, the Gusii-based side extended their fine unbeaten run in the month and is now ranked fifth, just a point below Gor and KCB at third and fourth respectively.

Bandari snaps winless run

Meanwhile, Bandari’s luck finally turned as the Dockers battled to a 1-0 victory over struggling Nairobi City Stars.

Beja Nyamawi scored the sole goal that sent the Dockers up to seventh on the log with 26 points.

The victory saw Bandari snapping a run of six games without a win.

The Mombasa-based club is level on points with AFC Leopards, whose quest for a second win on the bounce ended in a battling 1-1 draw against Murang’a Seal on Saturday in Dandora.

Former Kariobangi Sharks man Julius Masaba snatched the equalizer after Joe Waithira’s brilliant trickery had handed Seals to a 32nd-minute opener.

Gor Mahia was forced to contend with a point apiece following a barren draw against Kakamega Homeboyz in Mumias. The clash almost turned in favour of the dominant host who had a goal late on controversially disallowed for offside.

There was nothing to separate Kariobangi Sharks and Bidco United in a 1-1 draw.

Andreas Odhiambo’s well-taken goal from a corner shocked Bidco inside the opening 10 minutes only for Jacob Onyango’s low strike from inside the box to peg back the hosts.

Posta Rangers claimed a 2-1 win over Talanta to climb above bottom-placed Bidco United who will remain propping up the table heading in to Week 19 games.
