Former Kenya Simbas legend Oliver Mang’eni has been appointed by KCB RFC as acting Head coach following the departure of Curtis Olago.

Olago, who has been with KCB since 2008, will conclude his 13-year tenure at the end of August as his contract expires.

Mang’eni, 36, currently the lineout coach for KCB, steps up from his role after a distinguished 12-year playing career with the team, which ended with the 2022 Kenya Cup season.

He also played for Shujaa during the 2014/2015 season under Paul True.

KCB RFC Patron Japheth Achola expressed confidence in Mang’eni, stating, “It’s a new dawn for the Club. We have complete faith in Oliver and believe his extensive experience and deep understanding of the club make him the perfect candidate to lead the team at this important time.”

Similarly, the club extended their gratitude to Olago for his significant contributions in elevating KCB Rugby to prominence in the local rugby scene.

“We thank Olago for his service to the Club. He has been instrumental in positioning KCB Rugby as a top club and has played a pivotal role in the sport’s development in the country,” Achola added.

Mang’eni’s record includes five Kenya Cup titles (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022), three Enterprise Cup victories (2015, 2016, and 2017), and five Floodlit titles (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2019).
